The original complaint against Dr. Sheridan contains the following allegations:

BIG GEORGE'S STORY

In or about November 1999, Dr. Sheridan was attempting to remove sutures from the eyes of a Boston Terrier “Big George.” George had been hit by a car, causing his eyes to protrude, requiring surgery.

When some of the sutures were removed, veterinary assistant Joy Cromer saw that the whites of George’s eyes appeared normal.

Instead of sedating George to remove the sutures, Dr. Sheridan grabbed George in a “head lock” position.

Dr. Sheridan jerked George onto the exam room table and placed all of his body weight over George while continuing the “head lock.”

In the presence of veterinary assistant Joy Cromer and Dr. Sheridan’s girlfriend/ assistant Ara Arrington, Dr. Sheridan then grabbed George’s neck with both hands and began strangling him.

Dr. Sheridan squeezed George’s neck so hard that his eyes burst with blood streaming out of them. Dr. Sheridan then ordered Joy Cromer to lock George back in his cage.

Because George’s eyes had burst, Dr. Sheridan had to surgically remove them, and George is permanently blind.

Today, George is managing pretty well despite his condition. He is currently living in a loving home with his adopted brothers and sisters.
